Hindi Movie: Gunday

This movie is definitely a good entertainer. But while watching it I felt at some points that director Ali Abbas Zafar is confused and trying to convince his audiences that being ‘Gunda’ (goon) is not bad.
This movie is a story about 2 friends Vikram (Ranveer Singh) and Baala (Arjun Kapoor) who are friends with each other from their childhood days. Both are born in Bangladesh but arrive in Calcutta for earning bread and butter (and lot other) through coal smuggling business. They are having successful run and easily eliminate their opponents together. They also establish themselves in other black marketing businesses. But since they are heroes, they have a habit of helping poor people (typical Hindi movie). To break their friendship and divide their black business, police inspector Satyajeet Sarkar (Irrfan Khan) tries his best. They both meet Nandita (Priyanka Chopra) in a dancing bar and fall for her together. Both of them attempt to express their love alternately and agree that no matter whom Nandita chooses, their friendship will remain intact. What happens next, what happens in their friendship, what happens in their love life is the entire story about.
Performances of both lead actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor are good but not excellent. Arjun Kapoor especially lacks clearly in emotional and comedy scenes. Ranveer singh too falls short when it comes to comic and emotional scenes. Priyanka Chopra looks good in her role and her performance is up to the mark. Irrfan Khan doesn’t get much scope but delivers fine act in small role. Songs are good, dance sequences, locations are beautiful. Story is interesting but it is very weak at some places.
Overall, watch this movie if you want to get entertained. It is a treat for typical hindi movie lovers. It has action, drama, romance and comedy too.
